The transfer case is a Ford-application BorgWarner 1356 unit and it sends power to custom South Bay Driveline driveshafts. After damaging the housing of his original T-case during mock up, Mackie purchased a new housing and swapped the internals from the damaged unit to the new housing. The T-case is mated to a Ford-application rebuilt ZF S 5-42 five-speed manual transmission that sits on a custom crossmember and includes a Ford master cylinder and slave unit. This transmission was purchased from a local shop after the transmission from the ’89 F-350 was damaged during mock-up. Also visible in this photo is the frame-mounted 2.5-gallon tank that stores air from a cab-mounted Viair compressor.
