The Jeep trucks were rated for a 1-ton load in the 6-foot-6-inch all-steel beds. A flatbed was available from the factory, as well as a number of specialty bodies. Or, you could order a cab and chassis and fit your own bed. The small rear window was another signature of the early trucks. In later years, it almost doubled in size. Ron installed a rear PTO, which was an option, to give it the farm truck look. The elegant Willys-Overland emblem stamped into the tailgate lasted until the ’54 model year, after Kaiser had bought Willys-Overland and changed the name to Willys Motors.
