I originally retained the factory Toyota rear axle and added lower gears and a Detroit Locker for better trail prowess. Then I added disc brakes from All-Pro Off Road and Poly Performance chromoly axleshafts, but axlewrap ripped the spring perches off the factory housing. So I replaced it with a Diamond Axle housing, and my friend Brian Sumner built this trick traction bar. I have since broken ring-and-pinions, but I am too financially committed now to switch to a different axle. If I had it to do over again I would just start with a Ford 9-inch.
