Although the A-arms were custom fabricated, the CV axles and steering rack are factory components from a Chevy 2500. “They are inexpensive and easy to find at just about any parts store,” Bebe explains. The factory spindles and unit bearings were also retained. The upper arms are made from 1.25-inch, 0.250-inch wall DOM tubing, and the lower arms and subframe from 1.75-inch .250-inch wall DOM tubing that has been extensively plated to add strength. The tubular arms attach to the spindles with 1.25-inch chromoly rod ends from Ruff Stuff that offer a wider range of motion than the factory tie rod ends. The upper rod ends were also mounted above the top of the knuckle to accommodate the additional distance between the upper and lower arms without using longer knuckles.
