Soni Honegger’s Flatty, the Rock Spider

Soni Honegger has built a fair number of cool 4x4s over the years. One that keeps popping up on people’s radar is his Flatfender Willys jeep. It is an M38 but has a ton of cool parts on it that give it that uber-military look. It sits on 35-inch tires, and although it looks like it just rolled off base it is far from an “as delivered” M38. The engine is a Chevy 4.3L V-6, the trans is a granny four-speed, and the suspension uses radius arms and suspension links with tie-rod ends. Lots of trick stuff is going on in this jeep, still one of the best-looking flatties ever. We ran across it again a few years back and figured you’d like to see a quickly gallery of what’s hidden in Soni’s Rock Spider.
