VIDEO - Testing Tires at the Kenda Boot Camp in Las VegasPosted in Features on October 7, 2016
When you hear “boot camp,” you immediately think of long days of hard exercise and someone in a large round hat yelling at you. Recently, we got a chance to attend the Kenda Tire LT Boot Camp in Las Vegas. There wasn’t anybody in a large round hat yelling at us. There wasn’t any strenuous exercise either. It was the opposite—just a few days of fun.
Kenda Tire invited its biggest dealers to experience and learn about their tire products. This year’s Kenda Tire Boot Camp included some classroom training and off-road driving at the Vegas Off Road Experience (VORE) in Las Vegas. Kenda outfitted VORE’s race trucks with the Klever M/T KR29—a very durable high-traction tire—and Klever A/T KR28 all-terrain tire. The purpose was to see which tire handles better on VORE’s purpose-built short-course dirt track.
Kenda also provided a traction demo, running the tire on a Ford F-150 SVT Raptor in a variety of terrain that included mud, loose gravel, dirt, and rock. Each dealer representative had an opportunity to get in the trucks and rip around the track as if they were a top short-course driver. Kenda also invited off-road champ Shawn Morris, the company’s sponsored driver, to show these guys how things are really done behind the wheel.
While each dealer had a variety of opinions on which tire they liked, one thing was for certain: the tires are tough enough for the terrain. The purpose of the Kenda Tire Boot Camp is to make each dealer an expert in the product, so when you walk into their stores to buy a set of tires, they know what they are selling you. With immersive experiences like what we saw at this year’s event, we’re sure the dealers learned a thing or two about Kenda.
