This year, our Four Wheeler of the Year test featured six vehicles; the new Jeep Compass Trailhawk, two new Land Rover Discoveries in gas and diesel, the Harvest Edition Ram 1500, a Ram 3500 Limited Mega Cab and Chevy’s new Colorado ZR2 Crew Cab. After spending an entire week in and out of our vehicles, we’ve come up with a short list of major pros and cons for the interior of each vehicle, and here they are.

2018 Jeep Compass Trailhawk 4x4
AppleConnect for infotainment system.
Easily accessible and visible 4x4 switch with bright indicator lights.
Great seats for a small SUV.
Limited legroom for driver’s left leg.
Shifter goes forward for down and back for up in semi-auto mode.
Small steering wheel.

2017 Land Rover Discovery HSE Luxury Si6 Gas
Gorgeous leather dash panels and accents.
Convenient and spacious storage nooks and pockets.
Everything is well within reach.
Dash screen and housing show fingerprints.
Removable cup holder inserts are too small for some bottle sizes, while cup holders without insert are too big.
Small rearview mirror.

2017 Land Rover Discovery HSE Luxury Td6 Diesel
Perfect steering wheel feel.
Front and rear heated seats.
Epic sound system with subwoofer.
Small steering wheel mounted infotainment control buttons.
Creamcicle white leather interior with orange piping.
All electric second and third row seats stow slower than manual seats.

2018 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2
Easy to reach 4x4 accessory switch panel.
Tight cabin, no rattles or shakes.
Great steering wheel shape, size and material.
E-brake pedal gets in the way of driver’s left foot.
4x4 activation switch is hidden behind steering wheel and turn signal lever.
Limited aim for upper air vents.

2018 Ram 1500 Harvest Edition
Insanely cushy heated cloth front bench seat.
Good elbow rests make for very comfortable driving positions.
True pickup truck feel with all the modern amenities.
Hidden emergency brake release lever.
Some buttons are difficult to reach, especially when driving.
Shifter knob instead of shift lever.

2018 Ram 3500 Mega Cab Limited 6.7L Cummins
Beautiful black leather interior with custom stitching.
Heated steering wheel and seats.
Ginormous rear seat and acres of legroom.
Tilt-only non-power steering wheel doesn’t extend to meet the driver.
No pedal adjustments, which help a lot in a 1-ton.
Large sensor behind rearview mirror obstructs views.
