All We Want for Christmas is the Little Mac Chevrolet S-10, and It’s For SalePosted in Features on December 22, 2017
Off-road racing fans, get out your checkbooks, because the 1990 Chevrolet S-10 campaigned by Team MacPherson in the early 1990s is for sale.
“Little Mac,” as the truck is affectionately known, is an off-road racing legend. Jerry McDonald and Team MacPherson built the truck in 1990 as a square-jawed first-generation Chevy S-10. In 1993, the truck was rebodied with second-generation styling, and it remained in the MacPherson stable until 1995, raced by McDonald and Jeff Lewis. The owner claims the truck was a SCORE champion in 1990 and 1991, making it a very real part of racing history.
It was originally built to SCORE specifications using a Chevrolet 4.3L V-6 sleeved down to 4.0 liters of displacement. Currently, the MacPherson-designed double-wishbone front suspension boasts 9 inches of travel, and the truck sports its original Bilstein shocks—three per front wheel. A MacPherson rear leaf spring, two anti-wrap bars, and Fox 3.5 Factory Series shocks give the rear suspension 14 inches of travel.
Its current owner purchased the two-wheel-drive truck in June 2015, giving it a nuts-and-bolts restoration before reintroducing it to the desert. Since its purchase, it’s seen action in plenty of off-road races winning the Vintage class in the 2016 Mint 400 and finishing in second in 2017. It also campaigned the 2017 NORRA Mexican 1000, finishing third in the Vintage 6-Cylinder Trucks class.
Right now, Little Mac is for sale in El Cajon, California, on Craigslist or Race-Dezert.com, and the owner is asking $35,000. SCORE-tagged and legal for NORRA competition, Little Mac could be a relatively easy and fun way to get into the world of off-road desert racing. There are two liveries shown in the ad, and we're not sure exactly which one is for sale, but the owner is a frequent participant in the forum scene, so we're sure he'd be happy to clarify any questions about the sale.
