We’re excited to announce that we’ve taken delivery of a brand spankin’ new Ram 1500 Rebel long-term test vehicle!

The Ram 1500 Rebel won the Four Wheeler 2016 Pickup Truck of the Year competition, beating out three other very capable pickups, so as part of taking top honors Ram has provided a vehicle for yearlong testing. This provides us with the unique opportunity to live with the vehicle for the next year and use it in a variety of situations both on- and off-road. We’ll pile over 20,000 miles on the truck by the time it’s all said and done and report back with our thoughts on a variety of topics including functionality and durability.

When we tested the Rebel during Pickup Truck of the Year (PTOTY) we were impressed. “Everything about the Ram feels right,” “The engine and trans are magic,” “Excellent ride quality,” and “One smooth dirt machine,” were some of the comments from the judges. We said the 5.7L Hemi felt “like a rocket in the city and on the highway” and we totally dug the airbag/air strut suspension, which helped to create a “plush ride” while offering adjustability to improve things such as approach angle and ground clearance off-road. The Toyo Open Country tires offered great traction and held up to the beating we threw on ’em off-road with no problems. We found the RamBox option to be indispensable. Oh, and we dug the Rebel’s killer look and stance, too.

Naturally, the first thing we did after signing for the new long-term Rebel was point it into the woods for some two-track exploring. That was the first of many off-road forays we have planned for the Rebel, so stay tuned here at, on our social media sites, and in the pages of Four Wheeler for lots of Rebel updates.
