We added the mounting tabs to the lower mounts at an angle. Angling the tabs was extra work, but the spherical bearings will be free to articulate in either direction without binding. We needed extra length for our welder's ground cable, so we clamped the ground cable onto a pair of jumper cables. The jumper cables carried the current perfectly. Note that the ground cable is clamped close to the actual location of the welds. Always make sure that welding current will not pass through critical components, such as EFI computers and wheel bearings. We drained the oil before we welded the mounts onto the axle, and remembered to refill the housing after we were done.
