With our parts collected and our truck up on jackstands (we hadn't been harassed by the "concerned citizen" yet), we were ready to get started. Stripping the old front end away from the truck called for several wrenches, several grinding wheels, and several Sawzall blades. Here's where a shock hoop tube welded directly to the frame did some damage. Over time and harsh off-road miles, the tube tore away from the frame with an ever-expanding crack.
