Our new front end's dirt prowess gave us a perfect opportunity to test some new rolling stock. Mickey Thompson's Classic II wheels look great and have durability to match. Steel inserts are used to reinforce the lug holes in the lightweight aluminum wheels. We had our Classic IIs wrapped with Dick Cepek Radial Fun Country IIs, which are manufactured using a segmented mold for precise tolerances. They took minimal weight to balance. The F-Cs are one of the best all-terrain treads we've experienced to date. The radial construction and tread design contribute to an outstanding highway ride. The tires hum a bit more than a mall-bound passenger car tread, but they're absolutely silent compared to some of the off-road rubber we've driven on the pavement. The tread has sufficient siping to give good grip on rain-slicked roads, as we can personally attest. In the dirt, the Cepeks are extremely competent, and we've flogged them over hardpacked roads, across gravel-strewn two-tracks, and through deep sand. The tires have sufficient lateral grip to provide sure-footed cornering, and the shoulder lugs add to the treads' footprint in the ruts. Yes, we like the Mickey Thompson/Dick Cepek combo.
