Frame Patch

Even though the frame had been patched and the gouges filled and smoothed, we felt the best way to avoid future breakage was to plate over the stressed areas. We cut this plate from 3/16-inch cold-rolled steel using a paper pattern, a Sawzall, and our trusty grinder. Since we left the engine in place during the installation, we weren't able to properly see the back edge of the plate for welding. We cut a trough in the plate and made a long plug weld to secure the plate in place.
