The Phoenix Project was supposed to be an '81 Toyota 4x4 pickup that would rise from the ashes to conquer creepy-crawly trails. This truck was my daily driver for several years, and ran quite a few local trails during that time. I've been through several engines. I fried a couple engines when I unknowingly had a clogged radiator, and I had the misfortune of spending hard-earned money with a careless engine builder. Even when the engine was running, it was miserably slow. I grew to hate the Toyota 22r, even though there are many who love it. The Phoenix needed an engine swap.
