The old shock hoops were cut off, and the frame was patched and plated over before the Dixon shock hoops were welded in place. Twelve-gauge sheet and 3/16-inch plate were used for the patch and plate work. Here's the Dixon shock hoop finally welded into place. To access part of the reinforcement plate on top of the frame, an ear of the upper control arm mounting bracket was temporarily cut off. After the frame plate was welded on, the upper control arm bracket was welded back together.
