Here's the Dixon kit in the dirt. The performance of the Dixon system was top-notch and it was good to have a solid truck again. In later weeks, the 4x4 axle shafts were installed, along with raised lower spring seats. Why was this effort a waste? It took a long time, and I used my own equipment and effort on a truck that I had to hand off to someone else shortly after it was a fully functioning, long-travel 4x4. I TIG welded everything, mostly because I don't have a MIG welder and I don't want one. The downside of TIG welding is that it takes a lot of time. I would have been better off finding a competent shop to do the work with a MIG welder. I figured that doing all the work myself would be good welding practice, and it was. The problem was that I could have gained that same experience working on TrailRunner instead.
