5. We wanted to install the ARP studs without a press, so we shaved down the knurled section. This would best be done with a lathe, but we were able to fake it by chucking the stud in a drill press and holding a file against the spinning stud. We took off a little at a time and checked the fit frequently. In the end, we were able to install the studs using a brass punch and a hammer on the back of the stud. The fit was tight, and felt about the same as that of the stock studs. The advice bears repeating: don't take off too much material. Go slowly and check the fit often.
