The rivets in the front crossmember of Chevy frames can loosen up over time. This causes frame flexing and cracking. Autofab offers this rivet replacement kit consisting of grade 8 bolts, all-metal locknuts, and hardened washers. Bolts can be tightened when they loosen up. Not so with rivets. How is this related to steering? A more rigid frame will steer better and crack less, especially around the steering box.
