25. With the carrier internals back together, we made sure the ring gear and carrier surfaces were clean, and put the ring gear back on the carrier. If your ring gear is especially hard to install, you can consider heating it in an oven to a few hundred degrees and/or placing the carrier in a freezer to cause it to shrink just a bit. You can tap the ring gear onto the carrier using a soft face hammer, but be sure to start a couple of bolts into the gear to ensure the holes are clocked correctly. Never pull the ring gear onto the carrier using the ring gear bolts.
