27. The housing had been cleaned and the pinion gear checked for anything unusual. The carrier was reinstalled in reverse order from disassembly. The bearing caps were snugged slightly, but not tightened. The adjuster nuts were turned back into the housing using our homemade tool the same amount we had backed them out. This put them both back slightly snug, restoring our original bearing preload.
