Here you can see why the ACV can make any coilover or reservoir shock more effective. The oil is forced through channels in the ACV before it reaches the inside of the reservoir. This allows the shock to remain stiff over high speed bumps without the use of a stiff main stack valving. The ACV is velocity sensitive, so it only kicks in at high speeds and hard hits - unlike conventional internal bypass shocks, which are position sensitive.
