Tire Mount

We've seen spare tire mounts that only attach to one side of the bumper, and we always wince - spare tire-and-wheel combos are heavy, and the stress of the weight usually causes a lot of noise (creaks, rattles) and stress as the spare jiggles from a lone mount. We've actually seen single-mount spare carriers rip off their mounts and drop their cargo onto the road. None of that nonsense here. This Hanson spare-tire carrier is designed to utilize mounts on both sides of the tailgate. Yes, that means some drilling is necessary in order to secure new mounting tabs, but again, nothing tricky is involved. We were able to set the carrier in the swing-tab mount on the rear bumper, and then swing the spare mount closed so we would know where to mount the new tab.
