The cargo surfaces attach to the mounts with screws, and are thick enough to hold a pretty decent amount of weight. The Hanson JC1 cargo rack sits atop the spare tire, while the JC2 unit wraps around it. This rack system provides a substantial amount of cargo space, allowing interior space to be freed up for people and more sensitive goods. Since the racks are attached to the spare-tire carrier, utilizing the swing arm on the carrier allows for full rear access to the Jeep. All in all, the bumper and cargo rack installation was pretty simple-it took us just about two hours to complete. Now, the CJ-8 benefits from the protection and utility of the Hanson bumpers and racks, and we like how it all looks. Not bad for a Saturday afternoon's work.
