Warn Pullzall
We’ve had a Warn Pullzall since Warn introduced them a few years ago. Though ours is orange, the ones you can buy today will have a red casing. But the same benefits and pulling power is there, and it still comes with two batteries and a charger.

We can’t tell you how many times this little gem gets used to pull stumps, haul overloaded hand trailers uphill, or even lift engine blocks for us. This last one scared the crap out of our friends—they didn’t think there was any way that we could pull a complete engine out of the truck bed using the Warn Pullzall, a good strap, and a giant tree limb. But the Pullzall didn’t even stutter—the V-8 engine’s weight was no match for it, as we easily controlled the engine up and out of the truck bed.

Baja HID Conversion Kit
We couldn’t be happier with the HID conversion we completed on our Hella Rallye 4000 lights last year. The swap was easy to do and the brighter lights have been performing without flaw. If you’ve never had HID lights, you’re missing out. The difference is incredible. The cost can be daunting for most, which is why we converted our less expensive $100 lights instead of buying new $500 lamps. Not having the bright red HID rings around the front of the lights has also kept thieves at bay. After a few months we pulled apart the light to inspect the housing, seals, and bulb. Everything is working great with no damage.

D.I.Y. Rocker Guards
In the January 2011 issue we had Gentry Welding build us some custom rocker guards using 1.5-inch DOM tubing and a basic plan that was easy to follow. Some readers emailed in and asked if the 1.5-inch tubing was enough to support the midsize vehicle we built them under. We’re happy to report that they’ve actually lasted excellently. We’re not in rock gardens every day with this truck, but the passenger side guard has taken the full weight of this vehicle a few times without really distorting or denting.

By the way, rocker guards are one area where a thicker tube wall with a smaller overall diameter is a good way to go.
