Bestop Tonneau Cover

About a year ago, we gave our ’04 Dodge 2500’s bed some attention with a spray-in bedliner, some Mac’s Tie Downs anchors, and a Bestop soft tonneau cover. While the soft tonneaus aren’t too good at preventing theft, they do help a little (out of sight, out of mind). They also make excellent sun, rain, and wind shields for anything in the bed.

The ZipRail soft tonneau we used is pretty easy to install, but it does take a few minutes since you’ll have to snap in the supporting crossbars. There are other options for a removable tonneau, but we liked that this fabric one goes behind the seat in the truck when not in use.

As for the Line-X bedliner? It still looks brand-new after a year, except for an orange spot where rusty water leaked onto it for a few days.

The Mac’s rails in the bed still look new, and the tie-down anchors’ springs haven’t worn out at all from use.

Checking On Our STD

It’s been some time since we gave you an update on our ’03 6.0L Power Stroke F-350 truck. It fell by the wayside when our ’11 6.7L truck showed up, but we still have it and have been recently giving it a lot of love. You’ll see a story on our old STD soon, and we think we might have to change its name from Super Terrible Diesel to Super Terrific Diesel.

While it had an immediate rocky start in life, we’ve spent the last number of years trying to fix any problems associated with the 6.0L, as well as any problems that we created (like the track bar bracket ripping off), and now have ourselves a great diesel truck. We’ve also swapped in 5.13 gears, rebuilt the axles, and changed up to an old Weld Racing 20x12 forged wheel that makes the tires better fit the wide Hannemann fiberglass fenders. Stay tuned...
