Tree straps should be used on a suitably large tree and positioned close to the ground around the trunk. With a D-shackle, you can secure a hook or snatch block for winching purposes. Bubba Rope recently released their Tree Hugger tree strap. It’s made from 3-inch-wide polyester webbing that’s non-stretching and meant to protect the bark and trunk of any stout tree you decide to use as a recovery anchor point. A tough cordura covering helps make the strap wear longer with use.
