5 Though it’s possible to do both sides at the same time, we tend to remove one side at a time. If you work this way, as well, remember to leave the U-bolts on both sides so the axle can be moved around as you try to place it on the center pins of the new leaf springs. Some 4x4 Chevys will need their front driveshafts disconnected to get the axle onto the passenger-side leaf spring center pin. If this is the case with yours, we suggest getting your driveshaft lengthened. Though it will work fine at ride height and for pounding pavement, you will be binding the driveshaft at full droop when off road.
