Ultimate Portability Using The Seal 9.5RSI

While winches are nothing new to the 4x4 market, there are a number of new winch brands popping up in the U.S. market, along with new enthusiasts looking for different ways to use them. ComeUp USA is an emerging name showing up here in the states, but the company's designs have actually been utilized here for years under a private label. After 37 years of winch production and testing, ComeUp is taking on a somewhat diluted U.S. winch market, but with some new tricks and a high standard of quality at a competitive price. Our ComeUp Seal 9.5rsi winch retails for around $1,100 with a synthetic rope, an aluminum hawse fairlead, and an included wireless remote control. The Seal Series waterproof winch also features a patented external CBS brake, a die-cast aluminum housing, and an ergonomic T-handle clutch that is among the easiest we've ever tried.

We mounted our Seal 9.5rsi winch on top of ComeUp's multipurpose hitch mount. The hitch-mounted multipurpose mount allows even “less aggressive” SUVs and trucks to be fitted with a winch simply by using a vehicle's receiver hitch. The multipurpose mount is also valuable because it allows you to move the winch to either the front or rear, as well as completely removing it from the vehicle for normal around-town use.

If you're still running stock bumpers, then this portable winch package might be just what you need to guarantee you come back from your off-roading trips.

What We Think

While there are lots of winches made by lots of companies, there is only a handful that stand out in our minds as "he highest of quality." This ComeUp Seal 9.5rsi has been added to this small list.

The T-handle free-spool mechanism has a great feel to it and easily engages/disengages. The line speed is pretty good so we don't have to wait long for the winch to re-spool itself after being unwound.

The wireless remote makes it easy to use this winch from up to 90 feet away, but you'll need to hold the power button for a full five seconds before it turns on.

Since it's part of the Seal Series, the winch is waterproof and can be used to pull our truck out of the drink (if we take a wrong turn).

And it's great to have a lighter winch on a portable cradle that we can move from vehicle to vehicle (providing the vehicle is wired with quick-connects for power).

For around $1,100, we got a great winch that does everything a 9,500-pound-capacity winch should do, but does it a little more luxuriously. This is a great value.
