All right, if we have said it once…in this issue…we have said it a thousand times…in this issue. Bringing a couple of jacks on the trail, including a farm-type jack and a bottle jack, is more than just a good idea. Learn how to use these things safely. It takes some skill, and we have the scars to prove it. It’s also very important to remember to bring other recovery tools such as this 3⁄4-inch-wide, 20-foot-long Renegade towstrap from Bubba Rope, D-ring shackles, and so on. We also usually bring a folding shovel and a small ax or saw, depending on where we are going and for how long.
