This is a Sanden compressor. This is probably the most common A/C compressor found in Jeeps built from the late ’80s to the present. If your ’80ish-up Jeep did not come with A/C from the factory, you can probably retrofit the brackets from a Jeep that did. Some Jeeps such as YJs, TJs, and some XJs already have brackets for a Sanden. All you need is the compressor and a new belt. The best way to keep a Sanden lubricated is to grease it like we did in the story (“Endless Air,” July ’12).
