So you are stuck by yourself and you don’t know what to do. First step: Take a deep breath and don’t freak out yet. The first thing to try even before getting out of your Jeep is to click the parking brake up a couple of notches. Not so far that the tires are totally locked, but enough to slow any spinning of the rear tires. If you are really stuck, this might not work, but it may give the spinning wheel enough resistance to fool a weak limited slip or open diff into sending traction to the tire on the ground. If your Jeep is moving a little bit forward or backward, you can try rocking the Jeep by quickly shifting from First to Reverse.
