Here’s a typical ball joint on an OEM suspension A-arm. It consists of a captive spherical ball riding in a greased socket. Ball joints may or may not be greaseable through a zerk fitting. In some applications, the entire A-arm must be replaced when the ball joint becomes worn or fails.
