Most all-terrains work well in sand due to the tight tread pattern, while a mud design tends to dig down. With the pressure at 30 psi the tires did a great job though, with very little sinkage in the soft sand. However, when we lowered the pressure to 15 the sidewalls bulged out and the tire literally floated over the sand. Even with a D-rated tire, the sidewalls flexed well. The PowerPly three-ply construction holds up great to abuse but still flexes as needed.
