This is an example of use of machined aluminum on a desert truck. This A-arm could be fabricated from multiple sheet pieces of chromoly steel, requiring a large number of laser or plasma cut sheets and hours of precise TIG welding. As an alternative, this arm was CNC machined as a single piece from a large chunk of aluminum alloy material.
