Most welders have a usage chart on the inside cover that gives baselines for voltage and wire speed settings based on the type of shielding gas, voltage input, wire diameter, and material thickness you’re working with. The Power Mig 180 Dual has an output of 30-140 amps with a 20-percent duty cycle on 115 volts and 30-180 amps with a 30-percent duty cycle on 230 volts. That’s plenty of flexibility to MIG anything from thin sheetmetal up to 3/16-inch steel in a single pass. With flux-core wire you can do up to ½-inch with multiple passes.
