Our welder came with one spool of 0.025-inch L-56 MIG wire and one spool of 0.035-inch NR-211-MP flux-core wire, as well as tips and drive rollers for use with 0.025- to 0.045-inch wire. We generally prefer to run 0.030-inch MIG wire, and only run flux-core wire when we absolutely have to or when shielding gas isn’t available. We find that the 0.030-inch wire gives the best balance of power and finesse for nearly all thicknesses of steel.
