Up until recently we always recommended a 230-volt welder over a 115-volt welder because the 230-volt machines normally offer higher output amperage and longer duty cycles than the 115-volt units. However, that’s changing, with more and more machines like Lincoln’s new Power Mig 180 Dual coming on stage that offer the flexibility of both. A simple plug change on the front of the machine is all that’s required to make the switch from normal household to shop current.
