Here are those sleeves we talked about. They are made of 1 1/2-inch, 0.120-wall DOM, which fits snugly inside the 1 3/4-inch, 0.120-wall DOM. Like the Synergy Suspension kit for our TJ, our CJ-7 cage has compound bends in the A-pillar. That is, the bend at the dash is on a different plane than at the top of the windshield. Using two pieces of tubing allows us easily to turn the second part of the A-pillar on the sleeve like a hinge and compensate for the out-of-plane second bend. The sleeves were rosette-welded on both sides, top and bottom, and we left a 1⁄8- to 3⁄16-inch gap to fully finish-weld the joint. We also lined the dash bar up with the sleeved area to add strength at the joint.
