Here’s the top of an ’03-’04 tank. Note no vent neck and a big honking valve where a rollover valve used to be. Also new for ’03 was that the computer checks for pressure in the fuel system and kicks a check engine light if it doesn’t hold pressure. The EVAP canister also had to be within 3 feet of the gas tank as mandated by federal law. For ’03 and ’04 engine vacuum was used for this. But from ’05 and up, there is an electric pump inside the EVAP canisters that pressurizes the system. Also note that ’97-’04 Wranglers all used the same fuel pump.
