One-Hour Wonders: Installing Rite Performance Cowl Light BracketsPosted in How To: Body Chassis on November 29, 2016
Any upgrade you do to your truck is good, but easy ones may be the best. That’s why we call them “One-Hour Wonders” as these are things that take only about an hour to do but make a positive difference for your rig. Take this months OHW; it’s ridiculous easy to do, works well and it will look good too! It’s putting on Rite Performance Cowl Light Brackets.
Designed for mounting small quad type pod lights near the cowl/hood hinge area on 2004-2014 F-150’s & 2010-2014 Raptors, these brackets simply bolt to the hood hinge mounts. You can put spots on them, but lights mounted in this position are really intended for close-up flood lighting to the sides of the truck. They’re a good way to enhance trail edge visibility, which can aid in knowing if there’s a big rock in that corner.
The Rite units are made from 3/16th-inch cold rolled steel that feature a CAD designed, low profile, They are also laser cut and have been powder-coated for durability. Rite has designed them to minimize wind noise and resistance, and to work on stock or fiberglass fenders. The Rite Performance Cowling Light Brackets retail for $89.99 +tax and of course, the lights are sold separately.
Speaking of the lights, know that the hardest part of this install is the wiring of the lights, but most of the major LED manufactures provide good installation instructions, so just follow them and you’ll be good.
