Philips Vision Plus Halogen Headlights - Let There Be Light!

Few things can improve your night-time driving experience better than good lighting, but most factory headlights are somewhat lacking in this area. Better lighting allows you to see the dangers lurking out on the road sooner and lets you see the obstacles on the trail better, which makes you a better and safer driver.

Philips Vision Plus replacement headlight bulbs can be easily installed in just minutes, without tools in most cases. These halogen bulbs provide more light and up to a 50-foot-longer beam. The Philips bulbs are an exact replacement for the factory bulbs and install in the factory headlight housings without modification, all of which makes this a good deal for night wheeling as well as on the road.

Our stock headlights work well enough in town, but like most new rigs, they become marginally effective without streetlights all around, which is where we live and go night wheeling.

We installed the Vision Plus bulbs in an '03 Dakota in just a few minutes. First, allow the bulbs to cool before removal. To remove the old bulbs, simply reach behind the headlight housing (easier said than done) and remove the electrical connector, then twist the retaining ring to free the bulb.

Installation of the new Philips Halogens is just as simple; be careful not to touch the glass of the bulbs with your bare hands. The oil from your skin can cause hot spots on the glass and lead to premature bulb failure. Carefully align the new halogens in the housings and be sure the base is properly seated. Then twist the retaining ring in place to secure the lamp. Reconnect the power cables and you are ready to really see.

With the Philips Vision Plus replacement bulbs, we can now see much farther ahead, and the side vision is a welcome relief on twisty trails or dark country roads.

With the Philips bulbs installed we set off into the night to see the results. The new halogens put more light on the ground directly in front and to the side of the Dakota, and the low-beam reach was greatly improved. This lets you see much more of the road than with the factory bulbs. The high beams of the Vision Plus halogens are impressive as well. The beam length was improved by more than 60 feet and they generally put more light out in front where you need it.

The Philips Halogens make night-time driving more enjoyable. This simple modification was completed in just a few minutes with no tools, and made a big difference in the total driving experience.
