Solid Wire And Stranded Wire

That’s Solid!
Way back when, Radio Shack actually had electronic components in stock. Today, it is basically a glorified cell phone kiosk. That said, it is still possible to get wire there. Even if your electronics store of choice is called something different, this tip is important. Don’t use solid wire in a Jeep—ever. Solid wire will work harden and can eventually break. If you thought finding a blown fusible link was rough, you’ve never tried to find the crack in a length of solid wire. So when you walk into your electronics store to get wire that is the same size as you are patching in to, make sure to specify “stranded” wire. Solid wire is often cheaper than stranded, so don’t always just get the lowest-dollar option.
