The Book and the Cover
Women will tell you that with certain things, we guys are horrible at estimating the size of something. If you are like us, you can ID the size of a bolt within a thousandth of an inch and pull the right wrench almost every time. Also if you are like us, you pretty much can’t guesstimate anything else. So when it comes to picking wire, don’t judge a wire by its OD. The OD of a wire can vary greatly depending on how expensive it was. Typically, more expensive wires have more insulation, which makes them thicker. So, always take a clean cut of the wire you are patching into on the Jeep and the wire you are adding, and make sure that the actual copper of the new wire is the same or bigger. Don’t just judge the book by the cover.
