Pictured on the right is one of the new Rough Country upper control arms that are included with the Premium kit. These arms are made from 1-inch-diameter, 0.250-inch-wall material and they’re custom-designed to allow for unobstructed downtravel with the lift kit installed. These new arms also feature Clevite bushings (longer life and less noise than polyurethane bushings) and a larger, replaceable, greasable ball joint that has more range of motion than the factory ball joint. If you opt for the Standard kit without the new upper control arms, you’ll have to remove the factory bumpstops from the upper control arm mounts to allow for unobstructed downtravel of the stock upper arm with the kit installed. No matter what upper arms you use, Rough Country says that suspension droop is increased by approximately three inches over stock.
