Use of a CV-style driveshaft, more correctly referred to as a double-cardan driveshaft, is another means of addressing a steep rear driveshaft angle. The joint itself often has less operating angle than a standard U-joint and is longer, but a double cardan can provide smoother operation and better joint life when used under steeper angle conditions. This generally requires some changes be made to adjust the pinion angle so the pinion shaft is now in line with the driveshaft. In most cases, a double-cardan shaft will run you more dollars than a regular U-joint shaft.
