Leaf Springs Similar to coils, look for unsprung height differences. Stand the leaves upside down on their eyes with both leaves from the same end of the Jeep side-by-side. Again, a difference in height could be a problem. In general, while we might run a spacer to level out a coil-sprung Jeep, we will never run different length shackles to level out a leaf-sprung Jeep. Check the main eyes and main leafs for any bending, metal damage, or general abuse. Pay attention to the bushings. Yeah, they are cheap, but if the ones in the springs you are buying are shot, that is just more money and time out of your pocket in the long run. Check that the spring retainers (if applicable) are there and in decent shape. Look for the anti- friction or noise pads between the leaves. And, finally, look for rust around the center pin. Rust there could indicate a loose center pin and might mean the center pin holes are hogged out and/or the pack needs a new center pin.
