E-Z Upgrades: Bad Brakes Gone Good
Old Jeeps had their pedals go through the floor to an underbody master cylinder for the brakes and some arcane linkage to engage the clutch. It actually worked fine, until someone swapped engines or changed transmissions, or the old Jeep got used and abused for 60-some years. Eventually the pedals, which attach to the frame, twist left as the body twists right while off-road, and the next thing you know the pedals bind up at the worst possible moment.
We considered swapping in later-model Jeep swinging pedals and then came across a complete kit from Advance Adapters designed for a dual-chamber master cylinder that works both the brakes and a hydraulic clutch slave. We quickly converted our ancient off-roader into something a little more modem.
