Installing the New AiRock Suspension System

Both the 4- and 6-inch AiRock suspension systems contain front and rear air springs with TJ mounts, front and rear Bilstein shocks valved for the air-spring rates and equipped with rubber snubbers to prevent shock damage at full compression, an AiRock manifold, an In-Cab Control (ICC) with digital display, an air line and wiring harness kit and a miscellaneous hardware kit.

Because the air springs must be inflated during the installation process, it's recommended that all of the air controls and plumbing be installed first. The ICC is designed to be mounted low on the dash or at the top of the windshield using the optional mounting bracket. Either mounting location ensures easy fingertip control as well as a clear line of sight to monitor air pressure. A 14-pin connector connects the ICC to the air manifold, while the supplied schematic diagram shows proper connection for the four-wire power harness. The ICC displays the pressure of each air spring, and with the optional sending unit, it can also display the tank pressure.

The AiRock manifold is a unit that contains the solenoids to activate the valving of the AiRock suspension system. A stainless steel bracket is designed to accept the manifold and mount it to the vehicle. On this Jeep, the air manifold was mounted where the airbox used to be before it was replaced with a new intake air tube and air filter.

With the manifold securely mounted, connect the 14-pin connector coming from the ICC to the manifold, and then use the plumbing schematic and the supplied 50-foot roll of air line to route the air from the manifold ports to each wheel. A tubing cutter is supplied for this purpose.

The system requires an on-board air compressor, a three-gallon air tank and an air filter/regulator set to 100 psi. This ensures a steady flow of air to the system.

To install the front air springs, remove the lower track-bar bolt, the front antiroll bar, shock absorbers, front wheels and coil springs.
