2015 Easter Jeep Safari - Verne’s Moab Prep

The few days before Moab’s annual Easter Jeep Safari are busy ones at the Simons house. I’m usually elbow deep in some last minute modification, repair, or upgrade that just has to happen days before heading north to Utah. This year I’ve been busy…maybe more than usual with family stuff (I had twins! Yay!). So I decided to try to go easy on myself and not overdo it. To that end I decided to bring my ’97 TJ known as Shrink Ray TJ. It’s been in plenty of Jp magazine tech articles, and I love to beat on it.

It seems to keep taking what I give it, so I’ll run with that and hope it makes it through a few days at EJS 2015. I added a wind breaker from AMC 4x4 (thanks Julie) because the weather in Moab is always unpredictable. I also built a quick and dirty on-board air system with the Sanden A/C compressor on the Jeep. I’m also gonna tow up there and back. This is out of character for me, but I want to be able to travel without any unexpected adventure this year . My tow rig was massaged by Diesel Power Products for Four Wheeler magazine a while back ( and ). The Dodge got an oil change, a boost gauge, and an exhaust gas temp gauge. Oh and I’m also bringing another Jeep…It’s an RC crawler just in case I have any down time.
