The Jeep Trailcat was one of seven concept vehicles that Jeep and Mopar unveiled here in Moab, Utah, at the 2016 Easter Jeep Safari, and we were there with cameras blazing! Among other things, the Trailcat has a 707hp Hemi Hellcat engine, six-speed manual transmission, and 39.5s.

Here you can see exclusive photos, a video, and our thoughts on the Trailcat. Make sure to check out all the exclusive content on the other Jeep concept vehicles here at fourwheeler.com!

Sean Holman, content director, Four Wheeler Network: A gratuitous 707hp Wrangler. Unnecessary, impractical, and still stupid, silly fun.

Fred Williams, editor, 4-Wheel & Off-Road: Trailcat is cool, sounds great, and of course appeals to the power hungry four-wheeler in all of us. But it’s also pure and simple overkill. I think it’s great that Jeep showed this, but I’m also not going to hold my breath for a Hellcat crate engine. Mopar should offer a crate engine version of the supercharged, 707hp powerhouse, but I doubt it’s coming soon, when simple ready-to-run crate versions of the other Hemis are still missing, and Dodge is selling every Hellcat engine they make in sports cars. And honestly, Hellcat-type power demands drivetrain, suspension, and driver skill that is still just a dream for most jeepers.

Christian Hazel, editor, Four Wheeler: It’s big and shouty and loud and shouty and shouty. The first time we saw the supercharged 6.2L Hemi get plunked into a car, what Jeep enthusiast didn’t think to him or herself – “that would be a fun engine in a Wrangler.” You bet it is. Ken Brubaker, senior editor, Four Wheeler: I don’t think I saw a person drive the Trailcat and not come back smiling. The power is incredible and the Jeep itself is a very capable machine that’s very astute off-road.

Harry Wagner, contributor, Four Wheeler Network: This Jeep is completely ridiculous, and I say that in the nicest way possible. Beyond the engine it had Dana 60s and coilovers that were punched up through the rear of the tub. There is no chance of this coming to market but hopefully Jeep isn’t just teasing us with more horsepower in the future.
