Volunteers Join Tread Lightly! For Hells Revenge Restoration and Trail Ride During Easter Jeep Safari 2016 #EJS2016

For the third year in a row the team from Tread Lightly! was able to gather over 30 volunteers to help with their latest Restoration for Recreation project, repairing the broken buck and rail fence at the entrance to the Escalator obstacle on Hells Revenge. Tread Lightly brought together some of the biggest supporters of wheeling including Quadratec, Falken Discount Tire, Red Rock 4-Wheelers, Four Wheeler Network and this wouldn’t have been possible with out the continued cooperation of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).

With an early morning call time, we grabbed some coffee loaded up the rigs with the necessary supplies and went over the days plan. We made our way out of town and to the trailhead of Hells Revenge where the fantastic wheeling began.

We worked our way through the scenic slick rock with our Jeeps towards our restoration destination, just before the world famous Escalator on Hells Revenge. Thanks to years of weather, the brutal sun and age, the existing fence had seen better days. With the help of all the volunteers and the staff from the BLM we are to repair the fence where it had fallen and replace damaged or missing wooded rails.

The reconstruction of this fence will prevent trail-blazing and unnecessary widening of the trail while protecting access for future generations of wheelers. With a motivated group of volunteers we had the old dilapidated fence ready for many more years of service.

Once the fence was in working order we loaded up the tools into the Jeeps and made our way back through the trail while enjoying the fantastic views. Tread Lightly! is always fighting to keep land open for us to enjoy and it’s nice to give back and help keep trails open.

Tread Lightly! always has restoration projects in the works and can use volunteers. Check out to find out how you can help protect access for everyone.
